A Brief Introduction of Xinqiao High School Changzhou City
With the mighty Yangtze River passing by its north side and the famous Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal going through the city, Changzhou, also named Dragon City, has been a wonderful place, famous for its rich resources and clever people. In its north, a brand new town has emerged together with the Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed train and fascinating China Dinosaur Park. Xinqiao High School of Changzhou is situated in the center of this lovely new town.
The school is proud of its long history. It developed from a shabby village hall into a big school of more than 4,000 students, covering an area of 100 mu (66,667 square meters) through seventy years’ development and cultivation. The beautiful learning environment, high-standard sports field, big libraries, computer labs, science labs, multi-media classrooms make it into a Three-Star High School of Jiangsu Province.
Xinqiao High School focuses on its students’ well-balanced development and morality education. “Have a good sense of dignity and morality; Work hard with perseverance and courage” is the motto of the school. “Student-oriented teaching to achieve a diversity of development” highlights the school’s principle of education. The school’s good reputation comes from its great achievements in both National College Entrance Exams and various competitions.
The school not only does well in national courses, but also characterizes its local courses. The school caters to students’ various interests and needs by providing courses like music, fine arts, dancing, paper-cut, broadcasting, show-hosting, badminton, basketball, etc. The school-self-edited textbook “Paper-cutting Techniques” lists in the national non-material heritages.
Xinqiao High School lays great emphasis on making good use of its own resources and advantages in order to form its school characteristics in fine arts and PE. The school is very proud of its talented teachers, most of whom have won the first or second places in municipal level or provincial level competitions. Among them, Mr. Liu Tao is a State-Level-One film director and Mr. Wang Leping is the chairman of Changzhou Music Association. The school is very active in organizing various arts teams and different activities including Arts Festivals, Sports Festivals and Reading Competitions. Thanks to the hard work of the teachers, the school has won many honors, such as Silver Medal of Single Dance in “Shanghai International Children’s Expo”, Silver Medal in Asian Music Festival of Jiangsu Region, and First Place in Jiangsu “Qinsheng Cup” Singing Competition. The school has won great success in Fine Arts and PE. Every year more than 90% of its graduates in Fine Arts and PE are admitted to famous universities including Beijing Normal University, East China Normal University, Southeast University, Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Shanghai University of Sport, Tianjin University of Sport, Shenyang Conservatory of Music, Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts, Harbin Institute of Technology, Luxun Academy of Fine Arts, Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, etc. Thanks to these achievements, the school has won honors like “Artistic Characteristics School of Jiangsu Province” and Advanced Sport School of Jiangsu Province”.
   In 2013 the school will have its great change by moving to two new campuses, of which the Senior High School campus covers 130 mu (86,667 square meters) with an investment of 250 million yuan (40 million USD) and the Junior High School campus covers 75 mu (50,000 square meters) with an investment of 150 million yuan (24 million USD). Both the campuses are being constructed with great speed under the leadership of Xinbei District Government and Xinqiao Town Government. Possessing two campuses with junior high school and senior high school separated from each other will become the wings of Xinqiao High School to make it fly towards its new goal of becoming a Four-Star Senior High School of Jiangsu Province. The people of Xinqiao High School are now making all efforts to make their dream come true.
